Ubisoft's little charming child is full of heart. (so cringeworthy)
This enchanting piece could very well win the fight. (ok that doesn't make any sense)
Aurora, the Child of Light, has awoken from eternal sleep only to see that everything seems to be out of place. With her father nowhere to be seen, Aurora treks the land of Lumeria to seek the root and eradicate the plague that tainted this once impeccable kingdom.
Child of Light (more like Child of Flight) is the newest title to use the UbiArt Framework engine previously seen on Rayman Origins/Legends, both of which are excellent platformers with enticing artstyles. Luckily this trend continues in this title, and shifting the genre into a JRPG (or just RPG since it isn't made by Japan).
There is no doubt Child of Light's strongest point is in its appearance, the storybook style visuals along with its characters are very charming and pleasing to look at. Gameplay too is rather unique — primarily with its battle system that is quite similar to Final Fantasy's old Active Time Battle or ATB system but with a few exciting twist, mainly with the Firefly which could slow a fiend or heal an ally, plus a casting zone that could change the flow of the fight. When outside of battle Aurora's flight plays a key role since it is the essential method in traversing areas.
It's good to have these kind of games amidst the usual high budget explosive offering in the market. Even better considering it can run on a primitive PC, like mine.
